Here’s what actually happened.

Independent Security Audit — Passed

The headline item: Æro Mate underwent an independent security audit covering our API, infrastructure, and data handling practices. No critical findings.

We’re not going to pretend this is exciting content. But if you’re a pilot trusting a third party with your logbook — route history, aircraft data, medical certificate information — it’s the kind of routine admin that matters more than it sounds. Flight data is personal data, and we built the architecture around that assumption from day one. The audit is external confirmation we got it right, not the reason we started.

A summary of the audit scope is available on our Rechtliche Informationen page.

Live Weather: METAR, TAF, and VFR Status

Airport pages now pull live METAR and TAF data directly into your route planning — current conditions and forecasts, without leaving the app. VFR status is calculated and shown inline, so you get a straight answer instead of a wall of raw weather code.

NOTAM Support

We shipped airport search without NOTAM data, then heard about it, then fixed it. NOTAMs are now integrated alongside weather on the same airport view — one place to check before you fly instead of three tabs.

Notification Center

A persistent in-app inbox for everything that needs your attention: document expiry reminders (30/14/7/1-day heads-up before your medical, license, or rating lapses), push notifications, and system messages, all in one place instead of scattered across banners you dismiss and forget.

EASA-Compliant PDF Export

Logbook export now generates EASA-compliant PDFs, ready to hand to an examiner or file for currency checks — no reformatting required.

Tag der offenen Tür — Flughafen Mönchengladbach

We were at the open house at EDLN, meeting pilots and flight school folks in person, giving out logbook access on the spot. Always better to hear feedback across a table than through a support ticket.

Trust and Legal Page, Rebuilt

Our Trust and Legal page got a full pass: audit results, GDPR/DSGVO compliance documentation, and our data processing record are now presented clearly in one place, instead of buried across separate policy documents.

What’s Next

Q3 is about depth over breadth — refining what shipped this quarter based on what you tell us, and closing a few gaps in the weather and NOTAM data sources for European GA specifically. If you’ve got feedback, it goes straight into that queue.

— The Æro Mate Team

A look back at Q2 2026: an independent security audit, live METAR/TAF weather, NOTAM support, a new notification center, EASA-compliant PDF export, and a rebuilt Trust and Legal page.

[6
11,29,41,8,38,31,32,37,33,30,40,39
post-580","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-aviation-technology","tag-easa","tag-gdpr","tag-general-aviation","tag-metar","tag-mgl","tag-monchengladbach-airport","tag-notam","tag-open-house","tag-pilot-guide","tag-security-audit","tag-taf
["GET
